Hyundai subsidiary Supernal is developing a four-passenger eVTOL aircraft

The Hyundai subsidiary is showcasing the four-passenger S-A2 aircraft this week at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The partners signed a collaboration agreement during the Seoul ADEX air show in South Korea.

Supernal is also talking to FBOs in the business aviation sector about plans for them to operate vertiports and provide electricity to air taxi operators.

Supernal's new research and development facility in Fremont, California, is dedicated to the advancement of batteries, autonomous systems, and other technologies that will enable electric air travel and urban air mobility.

Supernal, Hyundai’s advanced air mobility subsidiary, aims to hire at least 100 employees at its new engineering headquarters in Irvine, California, this year.

Supernal has tapped GKN Aerospace, Qarbon Aerospace, and Umbra Group to help design components and refine manufacturing processes for its SA-1 eVTOL air taxi.

The eVTOL aircraft developer, which is part of Hyundai Motor Group, is investing an undisclosed sum in TruWeather Solutions.

The company announced it will use Microsoft's Azure cloud computing platform for autonomous flight simulations and the HoloLens 2 mixed-reality headset for vehicle manufacturing and maintenance.
