BLR Aerospace Gets New Zealand Nod for AS355 FastFin
The approval came in partnership with local MRO Skywork Helicopters

BLR Aerospace has received approval from New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority for its FastFin system for the twin-engine Airbus AS355. The BLR kit—designed to enhance directional control and hover stability—expands on the success of the FastFin system used on the Airbus H125/AS350.

It features an Advanced Tailboom Aerodynamic Cowling, a tailboom strake, and vortex generators. According to the Washington State-based manufacturer, the increase in available right pedal and improved yaw axis management reduces pilot workload and improves performance during precision hover-hold operations, particularly during crosswind conditions. Its products have been endorsed by OEMs such as Airbus Helicopters and Bell.

Announced this week at Verticon in Dallas, this latest certification was achieved in partnership with Skywork Helicopters, one of New Zealand’s leading rotorcraft service providers.

“Skywork has been an instrumental partner on this project,” said BLR president Clay Bringhurst. “We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with them to bring this certification to fruition and expand the reach of the BLR FastFin to a new platform that provides enhanced capabilities to operators in New Zealand and beyond.”
