Business aircraft MRO Constant Aviation has completed MicroShield 360 applications in the cabins of more than 20 business jets since being named the exclusive applicator of the antimicrobial coating system earlier this month. It most recently applied the colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic product, which kills 99.99 percent of pathogens on treated surfaces for one year, in aircraft operated by Part 135 firm Champion Air. When applied, the product immediately begins to polymerize on treated surfaces, minimizing both drying time and aircraft downtime.
According to Constant Aviation, MicroShield 360 protects the surface by constantly reducing microbial contamination of more than 90 pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and all flu strains. Untreated commonly handled objects and surfaces in an aircraft cabin that are contaminated can harbor, and thus spread, viruses and bacteria for months, it added.
“Choosing to apply MicroShield 360 in our aircraft fleet was a no-brainer,” said Champion Air director of maintenance Scott Peterson. “We want to offer every additional advantage to our customers when they choose a flight partner. Peace of mind of the added protection from MicroShield 360 to keep passengers healthy while traveling is one of them,” added Peterson.
MicroShield 360 is suitable for all airframes and can be applied at Constant’s facilities in Cleveland, Ohio; Mesa, Arizona; and Orlando, Florida, as well as in Teterboro. New Jersey.
