Jet Aviation Installs JetWave Datacom in Global 6000
JetWave operates on Inmarsat Aviation’s GX Ka-band network to provide high-speed onboard broadband connectivity.

Jet Aviation Geneva recently installed its first Honeywell JetWave airborne connectivity system in a Bombardier Global 6000. JetWave operates on Inmarsat Aviation’s GX Ka-band satellite network to provide high-speed broadband connectivity. The Jet Aviation facility plans to perform a second such installation on a Global 6000 in May.

“There is strong demand in business aviation for fast and reliable in-flight Wi-Fi capability, which we are delighted to make possible in cooperation with Honeywell,” said Cyril Martiniere, Jet Aviation’s v-p of regional operations in Europe and site operations leader/general manager at the Geneva MRO/FBO. “We installed the Ka-band system in combination with a Honeywell CNX-900 router.”

The owner needed the work to be completed in 21 days, and Jet Aviation delivered its first installation ahead of schedule, said aircraft manager Guillaume Blache. “The aircraft’s first flight following the installation was to the U.S., during which the owner and crew enjoyed full connectivity,” he added.

Jet Aviation’s MRO facility in Geneva offers heavy maintenance services for Bombardier Globals, Gulfstreams, and Boeing BBJs. It can also provide maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and avionics support, in addition to FBO services. The facility is an EASA- and FAA-approved repair station, and also holds approvals from Aruba, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the Isle of Man, and Azerbaijan.
