The Garmin G1000NXi flight deck will now be standard on new-production Cessna Grand Caravan EXs and Caravans, Textron Aviation announced yesterday at EAA AirVenture 2017. The company has already received both FAA and EASA certification for the upgraded avionics on its turboprop singles, allowing deliveries to begin in the U.S. and Europe.

“Introducing the new Garmin G1000NXi avionics further confirms our commitment to investing in this platform,” said Textron Aviation senior vice president of sales and marketing Rob Scholl. “The Caravan platform has the capability to perform a range of missions and now [has] a more streamlined and connected experience in the cockpit.”

Features of the G1000NXi include flight display modernization with faster processing times, improved graphics rendering and enhanced readability with LED back-lighting. Capability improvements include map overlay on the HSI; improved FMS capabilities; standard ADS-B OUT and optional ADS-B IN; the ability to view VFR and IFR charts on the moving map; and animated Sirius XM weather depiction. SurfaceWatch, which provides enhanced runway situational awareness, is also available as an option.
