Hawker Pacific New Zealand Achieves SMS Certification
The company drew on the experience of sister companies in Asia and Australia.

Hawker Pacific NZ has become the first aviation company in New Zealand to be certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand under CAR Part 100, in addition to the first to achieve Part 147 certification (maintenance training) in-country. The New Zealand CAA recently implemented Rule Part 100, which requires organizations holding operational certificates to implement and become certified as having a safety management system (SMS) in place. The agency used the mature Hawker Pacific SMS as an opportunity to develop and test its own skills and processes before going live with other New Zealand-based clients.

“Hawker Pacific NZ was in the fortunate position that our sister companies in Australia and Asia have previously achieved SMS certification. The global nature of the Hawker Pacific business instills a commonality of procedures and processes across all business units," said said Hawker Pacific CEO Doug Park. "This meant the basis of the procedures and processes associated with this certificate were extant in our operating systems, allowing Hawker Pacific NZ to be viewed as a company advanced in the development toward SMS application.”
