StandardAero has received EASA STC approval to re-engine the Hawker Beechcraft King Air F90 with P&WC PT6A-135A engines. According to Manny Atwal, v-p for turboprop programs, benefits include improved airframe performance, reduced long-term engine operating costs and increased reliability and safety. StandardAero also offers extended warranty coverage to 10 years or TBO. “The conversion can be completed in less than a week if it is booked in advance and done at a capable location,” Atwal told AIN. “An STC’d engine can be installed at most FBOs that are able to perform engine changes and basic modifications. All the necessary parts, documents and approvals are part of the STC package. Installation by a StandardAero field service team at a customer location is also an option.” According to Atwal, the cost of the conversion depends on aircraft configurations and the condition of the current core engines. “It is best to call us with basic and current engine logbook data so we can provide a quote specific to that engine,” he said. StandardAero estimates there are “several dozen” aircraft that could take advantage of the upgrade option.
