American Eurocopter recently unveiled a new full-motion flight and mission simulator for AS350 crew training tailored to EMS and law-enforcement applications. The simulator is based at the company’s Grand Prairie, Texas campus.
The company said the simulator can also be used for crew resource management and night-vision-goggle training and is convertible from AS350B2 to AS350B3 configurations. It is equipped with a full cabin for CRM training and includes vehicle engine management display, NVG and autopilot. It is also outfitted with a tactical flight officer (TFO) suite that includes forward-looking infrared Star Safire III (with hand controller, television and infrared mode), moving-map display and a SpectraLab S-16 slaved searchlight.

The Airborne Law Enforcement Association has selected the simulator for use in its advanced TFO training course. Company v-p Del Livingston said the course and the simulator will “redefine how TFO training is conducted.”
American Eurocopter solicited input from pilots, TFOs and tactical team members in designing the simulator in partnership with Indra Systems.
