The new year will see General Dynamics Aviation Services (GDAS) rebranded to Gulfstream and Midcoast Aviation rebranded as Jet Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. Joe Lombardo, executive v-p of the General Dynamics Aerospace Group, said, “We have a service presence at 44 locations around the world and we continue to grow to meet the demands of our increasing international customer base. This will simplify and strengthen our brand identity in our expanding global market.”  Over the past few years the company has made significant investments in Midcoast, including a new 145,000-sq-ft hangar built in late 2008 to broaden the MRO’s service offering to include single-aisle bizliner completions and refurbishment. Jet Aviation acquired Midcoast in 2006. GDAS, a network of five service-center locations, will begin operating under the Gulfstream name on January 1. The locations were originally acquired by purchasing K-C Aviation from Kimberly Clark in 1998 and Signature Regional Maintenance Centers from BBA Aviation in 2001. They will continue to provide MRO services for a wide variety of business aircraft.
