Cessna Curtails Citation Mustang Production

Cessna Aircraft instituted rolling furloughs at its Independence, Kan. factory, delaying production of the Citation Mustang light jet through next month. The Wichita-based aircraft manufacturer said supply chain issues due to floods in Rhode Island are behind the production slowdown, but Textron president and CEO Scott Donnelly noted in mid-May that Mustang sales have been softer than expected, suggesting this could have played into the decision as well. “We’re going to have some cancellations on the Mustang side that are sort of out-year deals,” Donnelly noted. A spokeswoman said Cessna still plans to deliver more than 100 Mustangs this year.
