The FAA is again asking for public comments on its review of FAR Parts 135 and 125, which started last month in Washington, D.C. An aviation rulemaking committee made up of industry representatives met over three days to address about 130 issues. The regulatory review was prompted by the myriad changes in the industry since Part 135 was originally written in the mid-1960s, including the growing use of bizliners such as the Boeing Business Jet. General Aviation Manufacturers Association president Ed Bolen is industry chairman of the committee. Part 125 governs certification and operations of airplanes with 20 or more passenger seats or a max payload of at least 6,000 pounds. This review will also encompass related portions of Part 91.
