MOUNT GAMBIER, AUSTRALIA, DEC. 10, 2001–The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the crash of a King Air 200C (VH-FMN) that killed the pilot and seriously injured the flight nurse. The twin turboprop, operated by the Royal Doctor Flying Service, of Marianton, South Australia, was on a  medical flight to transport a donor organ and collided with trees and terrain during a night visual approach to an airport near Mount Gambier.  Night VMC prevailed. The flight departed from Adelaide, South Australia, at about 11 p.m. for the approximately 50-min flight to Mount Gambier, where a donor organ was to be picked up and returned to Adelaide.
