Because the final bid for a 44,000-sq-ft paint hangar at Falcon Jet’s Wilmington, Del. service facility went “well beyond estimates,” groundbreaking has been delayed. The cost is a “critical issue” that must be resolved between Falcon Jet and its lessor and financial partner, the Delaware River Bay Authority, before construction can start. Scheduled opening of the paint shop may be delayed from the first quarter of next year to the second quarter. Since Falcon Jet acquired the Wilmington facility from Atlantic Aviation about 18 months ago, the company has spent more than $6 million in infrastructure upgrades and built a structural parts remanufacturing center.
