Draft Advisory Circular 93-1, “Reservations for Unscheduled Flights at High Density Traffic Airports,” provides an overview of proposed changes to the slot-reservation process for unscheduled IFR arrivals and departures at New York JFK International and La Guardia Airports, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (when reopened to general aviation). Changes include moving the lead time during which a reservation can be made from 48 hr to 72 hr and establishing an online reservation system that would replace the current computer modem connection. The AC also reports the FAA’s intention this summer to “improve the response time of the touch-tone telephone interface.”
