The Washington Airports Task Force, a private Virginia organization dedicated to promoting aviation in Virginia and the National Capital region, is the latest group to assail federal agencies for not reopening Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) to general aviation. “There was no valid security reason for closing National Airport in the first place, as literally hundreds of aircraft passing up and down the East Coast come within 90 seconds of the White House every day,” the task force said. “Nor is there any known security reason for sustaining a ban on aircraft owned and operated by American corporations.”
