The Texas DOT has awarded an $8.3 million federal grant for the first phase of a planned $20 million project to renovate and expand general aviation facilities at Sugar Land Regional Airport, reported the Fort Bend/Southwest Sun. Improvements slated include two bridge taxiways, a network of taxi lanes and ramps, 85 new replacement T hangars, several small corporate jet hangars, a self-fueling facility, an access road and site preparation for GA-related businesses. The project also includes acquisition of 66 acres of land on the southeast side of the airport.
