FlightSafety International (FSI) is expanding its training options, offering a Web-based eLearning system that also provides a learning management system (LMS) for training tracking, monitoring and testing.

The FlightSafety LMS will allow customers to track FlightSafety-provided training, done either at learning centers or via online delivery, using the MyFlight Safety.com portal. Customers can also use software tools to create their own training programs
and deliver and track the training using the LMS, according to Jon Pollack, eLearning operations manager. The system also allows customers to keep all their training records in one place.

The first eLearning product available via the LMS is FlightSafety’s Garmin 1000 avionics training for the Citation Mustang, due for release this month or next. Domestic RVSM, European RVSM and maintenance RVSM courses will follow in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, FlightSafety expects to deliver a Part 135 general subjects course tailored for FAA-certified operators and charter operators flying under other countries’ regulatory systems.

The LMS meets industry standards AICC and SCORM. Any training course that is AICC- or SCORM-compliant can be used on the FlightSafety LMS, and that training can be tracked and tested, too. Ambitious students can use software tools to create their own AICC- or SCORM-compliant training modules that can be delivered and tracked by the system.

The LMS can’t be used for any training, unless it is compliant and used within the FlightSafety LMS.
