The FAA has issued a proposed Airworthiness Directive that requires landing-gear inspections on Socata TBM 700s with more than 1,750 landings. The AD cites the possibility of “landing gear repair or replacement” if cracks are detected. It is based on EADS Socata TBM Aircraft Mandatory Service Bulletin SB 70-130, ATA No. 32, dated January 2006, which calls for a series of on-going inspections even if no cracks are detected.
