Boeing Business Jets announced yesterday at the Dubai Air Show that it is now offering the BBJ3, an executive version of its new 737-900ER. With five auxiliary fuel tanks, the BBJ3 will have a range of 4,765 nm. Its 1,120-sq-ft cabin is 35 percent more than that of a BBJ and 11 percent more than that of the BBJ2. The list price is $62.5 million, but it will be a while before deliveries can begin. The first flight of the 737-900ER isn’t scheduled until next August, and deliveries of the airline version are not expected before early 2007. The earliest delivery date of a BBJ3 is likely to be in late 2007 or early 2008. Formal announcement of the BBJ3 in Dubai was no accident–of the worldwide fleet of 83 BBJs in service, 26 percent are based in the Middle East, and the majority of BBJ2s sold have been ordered by Middle East customers.
