Universal Weather & Aviation has said that it could take until the middle of next month before damage to its Paris Le Bourget FBO can be fully repaired. The facility suffered extensive fire and smoke damage during an overnight blaze on January 3, with the lounge areas being the worst affected. The company quickly established a temporary operations center and made arrangements for passengers and crew to be accommodated in a neighboring building. It emphasized that full handling services are available while its premises are being restored. Until the work is complete, customs and immigration clearances will be conducted on board clients’ aircraft. Service requests can still be made through either Universal’s Houston headquarters or its European Operations Center at London Stansted Airport. A temporary telephone line has been established at the Le Bourget FBO: 33 1 48 35 96 38 (fax 33 1 48 35 85 46). Universal opened the upgraded and expanded facility less than a year ago. As of press time, no cause for the fire had been reported.
