The DOT Inspector General office has given an unqualified, or “clean,” opinion of the financial statements of the NTSB following an outside private audit for FY 2006. NTSB CFO Steven Goldberg said the NTSB FY 2006 Performance and Accountability Report is the agency’s principal publication and report to Congress and the American people “on our stewardship and management of the public funds entrusted to us.” The Accountability of Tax Dollars Act of 2002 requires small agencies, such as the NTSB, to submit audited financial statements to Congress and the Office of Management and Budget.
