New York City-based Arcadia Aviation announced plans yesterday to create a $20 million 200,000-sq-ft corporate hangar and office complex at Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport (MRB) in Martinsburg, W.Va. Groundbreaking for the first phase–a 20,000-sq-ft hangar with 3,600-sq-ft of attached offices–is anticipated to be early next year. Future hangar expansion will include both pre-designed and build-to-suit corporate facilities, capable of storing BBJ, Boeing 757 and MD-80 size aircraft. MRB, located just outside the Washington ADIZ, is home to the West Virginia Air National Guard, which next month will trade its C-130s for C-5 Galaxys. Its main runway, 8/26, is being lengthened to accommodate the much larger Galaxys. Arcadia Aviation has signed a long-term ground lease with the airport and has acquired Aero-Smith, the long-time full-service FBO at MRB.
