Zurich FBO To Open Handling Facilities
Swissport Executive Aviation is scheduled to open new handling operations at Zurich Airport on January 1.

Swissport Executive Aviation is scheduled to open new handling operations at Zurich Airport on January 1. The company has been active at the airport for some time but now has assured access to passenger facilities at the airport’s General Aviation Center (GAC). Corporate pilots can use Swissport’s center in the main terminal building, where their customers are also able to access Swissport Executive’s VIP lounge. According to Swissport Executive’s Zurich FBO manager, Tiziano Rosa, the company still wants to open its own stand-alone facility at the airport. However, Zurich Airport management has repeatedly told it that space is not available. The company competes with Jet Aviation (which also operates from the GAC) and ExecuJet Aviation, which occupies the executive terminal Signature Flight Support built in the 1990s. Meanwhile, Zurich is preparing to receive a large influx of business aircraft bringing delegates to the annual World Economic Forum in Davos (to be held from January 24 to 28). Rosa advised operators to book parking spaces early or risk having to reposition aircraft to other airports after dropping off passengers.
