E-A-R Specialty Composites (Booth No. 5376), which specializes in aircraft interior noise control, has announced the recent completion and delivery of new interior noise suppression kits for the Challenger 850 and the Gulfstream G150.  Two kits for the Challenger 850 were recently delivered to Lufthansa Technik for installation at the company’s Hamburg service facility.

“The development process for the 850 kits was relatively short, because of our extensive knowledge and history of quieting business jets and VIP aircraft,” said Brian Joyal, E-A-R Specialty Composites business development manager. “We have developed several different acoustic kit configurations for the Challenger 850, so that a range of customer requirements can be met.”

The G150 kit, which is both a thermal and acoustic system, is the first the Indianapolis-based company has designed for the aircraft. The first kit was recently delivered to Gulfstream’s Completion Center in Dallas. E-A-R credits its extensive work on the G200 thermal/acoustic system for smoothing development of the G150 system and providing valuable lessons in integrating the system’s components. Nonetheless, the company says the G150 thermal/acoustic kit required several years of design and development.

“Supplying integrated systems does not simply mean you supply multiple components,” said Joyal. “Rather, it requires balancing all of the deliverables to achieve the maximum performance, while reducing the total cost of the system and the cost of its integration and support for the life of the aircraft.”

The G150 kit and the Challenger 850 kit are both sold as OEM options package by Gulfstream and Bombardier, respectively.
