Avionics Upgrade STCed for Citation 501, Falcon 200
Rockwell Collins avionics upgrades are now available for Citation 501s, including the Williams International FJ44-powered Eagle II Citation 501s.

Rockwell Collins avionics upgrades are now available for Citation 501s, including the Williams International FJ44-powered Eagle II Citation 501s. Garrett Piedmont Hawthorne has completed supplemental type certification for the optional three-LCD system, and an STC is in the works for the standard two-display system.

The standard two-screen installation features the Collins IDS-3000 integrated display system, consisting of a primary flight display; a multifunction display; an RVSM- compliant ADC-3000 air data computer; integrated flight information system; an engine indicating system; WXR-800 weather radar; file server with chart and map software; Garmin radios; and an RVSM package.

Estimated installed baseline price is $665,000 for the three-display system and $525,000 for the two-screen system, depending on existing equipment and desired options. The upgrade will also apply to Citation 500s, according to Michael Anderson, director of avionics for Garrett Piedmont Hawthorne. There are some 585 Citation 500s and 501s in operation around the world.

The company has also STCed a four-display IDS-3000 system for Falcon 200s. “The Falcon 200 installation includes four 8- by 10-inch active matrix liquid crystal displays–two primary flight displays and two multifunction displays–that replace the aircraft’s original flight instruments,” Anderson said. The Falcon 200 package also includes a new turbulence-detection weather radar, digital air data computers and a Rockwell Collins integrated flight information system.
