An FAA Repair Station certificate has been awarded to Enterprise Jet Center on Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport. Loyd Turner, president, said, adding that the repair station was an integral part of the company’s growth strategy.

“I envisioned our company like a wagon wheel with Enterprise Jet Center being the hub,” he told AIN. “We’re in the process of adding the spokes to our business now. In addition to our FBO services and maintenance, I’ve also bought an aircraft detail cleaning company. We’re expanding into a lot of areas with the intent of becoming a classic full-service FBO.”

Turner said the company has been doing maintenance since 1978 in support of its own operation and based on that expertise it has decided to move more aggressively into the MRO field.

“I was brought into the company in 1990 and since then we have grown from an FBO selling 30,000 gallons of fuel a month to about 200,000 gallons, and that’s in an environment with as many as six FBOs on the airport. What’s happened is we’ve just outgrown the facilities, and I’ve been turning away work for lack of space.”
The expansion, set to open early next year, includes an 85,000-sq-ft hangar with maintenance shop and is designed to accommodate aircraft such as the Global Express. Leading the management team is Mike Bedwell, director of maintenance. Mike Boegler will serve as chief inspector.

The company is also adding a 9,750–sq-ft taxi-through canopy deep enough for a Gulfstream V or Global Express that will also accommodate a BBJ up to the tail. The canopy will be attached to the new 28,500-sq-ft terminal office building with two-story atrium lobby.
