BLR Aerospace late last year received an STC for its winglet kit for King Air 200s. Winglets “reduce drag, save fuel, increase cruise speed and boost rate of climb while improving the handling qualities” of the turboprop twin, according to the Everett, Wash. modification firm. Kits cost $50,000 (painting not included) and can be installed at several BLR-approved service facilities. Estimated installation time is about 60 man-hours.
