The FAA has amended new regulations regarding aircraft thermal and acoustic insulation in response to industry concerns that the requirements applied to a much broader range of components and airplanes than was originally intended. The agency says the amendments “focus the requirements on replacement materials that have a greater effect on safety and are readily available, and are necessary to avoid grounding of airplanes.” The amendments took effect January 30, but the rulemaking is open to comments until February 28.
