FlightSafety International (FSI) achieved a first recently when it put a Citation Sovereign simulator into service at its Orlando Learning Center. It is the first device with electric motion and control loading approved by the FAA to level-D standards. While the Sovereign is the first to achieve level-D certification, FSI has 36 other electric motion simulators to date, primarily for military aircraft. FlightSafety said electric motion sims are quieter, safer and less expensive than hydraulic devices.
