Cessna 208B Caravan, Port Alberni, Canada, Jan. 21, 2006–The pilot and two passengers were killed when the Canadian-registered Caravan lost power and crashed into trees while attempting a landing on a logging road in mountainous forest. The other four passengers were seriously injured and the airplane was substantially damaged.
After the engine quit, 16 minutes after takeoff from Toffino, British Columbia,
the pilot was trying to reach the Port Alberni airport but could not stretch the glide that far. Conditions were visual. Canada’s Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation.
