Former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta is the recipient of the 2006 Wright Brothers Memorial Trophy. Presented annually by the National Aeronautic Association, the trophy is being awarded to Mineta “for more than 40 years of dedicated, accomplished public service to the community, the nation and the world, and myriad lasting accomplishments to the world of transportation and aviation.” Mineta will receive the trophy, a metal depiction of the Wright brothers’ Flyer, on December 15 at the Aero Club of Washington.
