Farnborough Airport has boosted its claim to being London’s leading business aviation gateway with the introduction of a Cat I ILS on Runway 24. The ILS installation required a 1,030-ft displaced threshold and a further 600-ft displacement at the departure end, reducing landing distance to 5,900 ft. Runway 06 is scheduled to get an ILS next spring. Construction of the new control tower should be completed this month and ready for use in the fall. For the first time, Farnborough will be open to business aircraft during its biennial international airshow (July 22 to 28).
