The pilot and four passengers were injured when their King Air 200 crashed on the third attempt to land in IMC at Kaolin Field (OKZ) in Sandersville, Ga., on August 9. N899RW, registered to Warren Manufacturing, was on an IFR flight plan from nearby Dublin, Ga., where the twin turboprop had taken off 12 min before the accident. The first two landing attempts ended in missed approaches. The pilot elected to fly to Dublin to wait out the low ceiling. At 9:38 a.m. the flight departed Dublin for another attempt, and the aircraft was observed while on final approach to Runway 30 to enter a steep left bank and hit the ground.
