Proposed amendments to Canadian aviation regulations will require that any design change to aircraft, engines and propellers must meet the latest airworthiness standards. The revisions would coincide with recent changes to the FARs, set to go into effect June 10, affecting amended TC and STC modifications. Previously, when proposing changes to a product, a manufacturer or a modifier could continue to meet the standards established at the initial certification of the product. Under the proposed regulations in Canada and the final rules in the U.S., any significant change to the product would now need to meet the most recent aeronautical standards, as opposed to the standards at initial certification. Comments are due April 15.
