FAA Creates Advanced Air Mobility Council as eVTOL Type Certifications Increase
Almost one-fifth of the 37 aircraft that the FAA is evaluating for type certification are eVTOL designs.
In January 2020, the FAA granted EHang approval to conduct a demonstration flight with its EH216 Autonomous Aerial Vehicle in North Carolina, but the Chinese manufacturer is not one of the seven eVTOL manufacturers that currently is engaged in type certification work with the U.S. agency.
