Europe: Ground Handling Regulations

This regulation from EASA is the culmination of several years of work by various stakeholders, including the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) on behalf of the business and general aviation sector. According to IBAC, β€œIt is a significant step in enhancing the safety, cybersecurity, and consistency of ground-handling activities before and after a flight.” Under the regulation, ground-handling service providers will need to prove that they have a management system in place, including a safety management system, training for staff, a maintenance program for ground support equipment, and defined operational procedures. The regulation permits ground-handling organizations to self-declare that they comply with the EASA requirements.
