The U.S. start-up is preparing to conduct wind-tunnel tests with a subscale model of its patented Fluidic Propulsion System. It says the system will support unprecedentedly high speeds, while also delivering reduced noise and emissions.
The start-up believes it can deliver a quantum leap in performance with technology using a small flow of compressed air from a turbo-compressor to suck in a much greater volume of ambient air, creating a vortex that significantly amplifies the airflow.
JetPack's Speeder VTOL vehicle is one of 35 selected for evaluation by the U.S. Air Force and Special Forces in a challenge event organized by the Afwerx division of the Air Force Research Laboratory.
