Satellite Data Reveals How Airlines Still Are Scrambling to Deal With Covid Fallout

Travel restrictions and unprecedented decline in demand has hit the air transport sector hard since the Covid pandemic took hold back in March 2020. Analysis of data from Spire Aviation’s constellation of satellites is providing useful intelligence to the industry as it works to restore profitability. Data released to AIN shows global flight activity by carriers such as United, Air China, Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Southwest Airlines. It also shows fluctuations in activity rates for different airliners including the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380.
