NBAA to Hold All-Day Effective Leadership Course
Held October 9, the course is designed to increase industry knowledge for individuals who already work as or wish to become an aviation department manager.

Leadership is one of the biggest themes at this year’s NBAA Convention. Seminars and courses such as Drawing Strength from Diversity, CAM: Certifying the Future of Business Aviation and the Power of Personal Professionalism all focus on how leadership can affect personal, company and industry success. However, those who want to increase their leadership skills should attend the NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP) Course: Effective Leadership held on Monday, October 9.

According to NBAA, the Effective Leadership course is designed to increase professional knowledge for individuals who already work as or wish to become aviation department managers. Speakers will cover topics such as defining an effective leader, time management, leading groups, decision making, identifying staff needs and recognizing and using resources.

Speakers for the event include ServiceElements International’s founder, president and CEO Bob Hobbi as well as facilitators and strategists Karen Davies and Michelle Ventker. Hobbi has more than 30 years of experience in the aerospace and aviation industries, holding leadership roles with FlightSafety International, Honeywell Aerospace Academy and MedAire. Davies has approximately 20 years of experience in the aviation industry. She previously worked in scheduling, customer service, project management and finance for 10 years at Nationwide Insurance Flight Department. She is also a licensed aircraft dispatcher. Ventker has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry as she worked with NetJets’ crews, owners and leadership team for 19 years.

As an NBAA PDP, this course meets the PDP Objective L5. This means that attendees will gain knowledge in industry resources such as publications and national associations, concepts of empowerment and delegation, strategies for identifying personal needs, decision-making techniques and more. Attendees will also learn skills such as effectively managing time, prioritizing needs and opportunities and evaluating personal effectiveness and performance as well as industry resources.
