Whole-aircraft parachute provider BRS Aerospace is offering AirVenture attendees a 10 percent installation discount for Cessna 172 and 182 ballistic parachute recovery systems. Attendees can receive the discount from Avemco Insurance Company at Booth 1159-1160 in Hangar A through Thursday. Any BRS Cessna authorized installation network facility or qualified A&P mechanic can install the kits.

The parachute system from BRS Aerospace is intended as a last resort for pilots and passengers when all other attempts to recover the airplane have failed. A parachute/ballistic launcher is installed behind the passenger seats in the cargo area with a pilot-initiated activator located in the cockpit. Once the pilot activates the system, a rocket propels a large parachute to lower the airplane safely to the ground. The pre-discount cost for the Cessna 172 installation kit is $15,500 and the Cessna 182 Skylane kit is $17,500.
