Garmin’s new seven-inch G3X Touch display comes in portrait mode to provide light sport aircraft and experimental amateur-built aircraft owners more options for adding touchscreen displays. Designed by Garmin’s team of pilots and homebuilders (TeamX), the seven-inch portrait display joins the family’s 10.6- and 7-inch landscape displays.
Up to four G3X Touch displays of varying sizes can be installed in one aircraft, according to Garmin, and the new seven-inch display can be either a primary flight display or multifunction display (when paired with multiple displays). It can also act as a single standalone combination PFD/MFD.
The G3X Touch displays offer optional integration of engine indication system information, ADS-B IN traffic and weather, SiriusXM weather, transponder, remote com radio, audio panel, autopilot and other features such as synthetic vision, worldwide IFR/VFR charts, Bluetooth wireless flight plan transfer and other Garmin Connext capabilities.
The seven-inch G3X portrait display, along with Garmin’s new smaller and lighter GMU 11 magnetometer, should be ready for delivery in the second quarter of this year. Prices of the new displays start at $2,995.
