CloudAhoy 5.0 Adds SkyVector Worldwide Charts
Version 5.0 of the CloudAhoy postflight briefing app has added new features, including SkyVector worldwide charts and new instrument approach graphs.
CloudAhoy Version 5.0 adds new instrument approach review features and SkyVector worldwide VFR and IFR charts.

The CloudAhoy post-flight debriefing tool has added new features in a major 5.0 version upgrade. Pilots can record their flights based on GPS and other data from portable ADS-B receivers, external GPS receivers, onboard avionics or the internal GPS in mobile devices, then download the data for post-flight analysis. The free CloudAhoy app is available for iOS and Android devices and can also be used for flight logging. Many EFB apps also offer flight-logging features.

CloudAhoy users around the world can now match their flights to worldwide VFR and IFR (low and high) charts thanks to the addition of SkyVector aviation charts, which are updated every 28 days. Flights can be viewed in 2-D or 3-D and replayed as video views from the cockpit and also by embedding actual video into the flight debrief.

The new version of CloudAhoy makes it easier to review instrument approaches. These are automatically identified by the software’s analyzer, allowing the user to view approach segments in graph and numerical form and to assess whether it was a stabilized approach. When the user clicks on the information icon next to the identified approach segment, CloudAhoy displays a graphical view of the approach showing altitude and airspeed plotted against the flight path. Also shown are minimum, average and maximum airspeed and altitude as well as average slope and distance.

CloudAhoy’s flights list is redesigned and includes a search feature, advanced analysis section with a list of maneuvers for the flight being viewed and assignable roles for pilots on a flight, such as student, safety pilot, instructor, examiner and so on. When the user clicks a flight to select it, the system shows a thumbnail for the flight as a quick reminder of the flight’s location and path.

CloudAhoy Standard costs $65 per year and it runs on any browser; discounts are available for NAFI and SAFE members (flight instructor associations). A free version, CloudAhoy Track, can be used for flight logging and basic flight track display in 2-D only.
