Guardian Avionics (Booth B-056) unveiled its new iFDR panel mounts for iPhones and iPads today at Sun ’n’ Fun 2016. The mounts install flush with the instrument panel so pilots can view electronic flight bag information on the Apple iPhone 6, iPad mini and 12.9-inch iPad Pro without having to look down at their laps or obstruct the instrument panel with yoke-mounted devices. Guardian is also developing iFDR panel mounts for the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro and other products.
The mounts are made of ABS plastic and equipped with spring-loaded receivers to hold the device firmly and protect it from vibration. Ports are included for Lightning and 3.5-mm audio cables for connecting to external power, GPS, engine management and audio inputs.
“The iPad is becoming one of the most important tools for both professional and private pilots,” said Ash Vij, president of Guardian Avionics. “Pilots need to keep that tool in their frame of reference in flight; that’s why we felt it important to develop the iFDR panel mount series.”
The mounts are priced at $99 (iPhone 6), $149 (iPad mini) and $249 (12.9-inch iPad Pro).
