After an absence of nearly 20 years, Shell Aviation announced its return to the U.S. general aviation market last month. “This is not just a trial run,” said Shell Aviation North American vice president Rick Woods. “We plan to be here for the long haul.”
Woods said fuel and other Shell products are now available at 284 branded FBOs across the country following the completion of a reseller agreement with Eastern Aviation Fuels.

Shell is also launching a Shell Aviation card that gives operators access to the fuel network in the U.S. and more than 90 countries worldwide. The card allows the purchase of Shell fuel and lubricants and any other items stocked by the FBO.
Another card specifically for business pilots covers additional services including route planning, weather information and hangar space. Both cards offer flexible billing in a currency of choice and online access to management information.

“This long-term strategic initiative fills what, up to now, has been a large gap in
our global general aviation business,” explained Woods. Eastern president Buddy Stallings said the term of the agreement was “in excess of five years.” Eastern, which was founded in 1975, is the largest fuel distributor in the eastern U.S., supplying FBOs, airlines and other aviation operations. Stallings said he plans to expand distribution across the country in the next six months.
