Liebherr-Aerospace has won the contract to supply the ventilation and heating system for the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) under development by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). The systems will be manufactured at Liebherr’s Toulouse, France, facility, which serves as the company’s center of excellence for air management systems. The selection furthers the cooperation between the two companies that has seen Liebherr involved in HAL’s Do 228, Advanced Light Helicopter, and Tejas fighter programs. HAL first flew the LUH prototype in September 2016, and it has reached the final stages of development, having completed Indian Army acceptance trials in October. The first is due for handover to the Indian armed forces by August.
