TMD Technologies (Hall 1 1134) recently released a new range of high-power Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) power modules. There are still some important applications for TWTs that solid-state technology cannot address. However, TMD also offers the latest Gallium Nitride (GaN) microwave power modules (MPMs), which are optimized for electronic warfare (EW) applications.     

The company is a typical British small/medium enterprise (SME) that has carved a successful niche in the aerospace business. It makes a range of specialized transmitters, amplifiers, microwave power modules MPMs, high-voltage power supplies, and other microwave products that are incorporated in communications, radar, and EW systems. It was formed after a management buyout from Thorn-EMI Electronics in 1995 and is still based in Hayes, West London.

Peter Butcher, TMD’s executive chairman, said: “Today we operate truly worldwide, with an international network of customers and representatives. More than 90 percent of our products are exported, mainly to the States through our new U.S. company based in Baltimore.”
