Nine Eurocopter EC 635 helicopters supplied to the Royal Jordanian Air Force some two years ago have performed so well that the RJAF considering placing an additional order.  The original batch had been ordered and subsequently cancelled by the Portuguese military but have proved to be ideally suited to the tough climatic conditions in Jordan.

From 24-hour surveillance of border regions, to search-and-rescue and VIP transport, the EC 635s have performed reliably and earned the praise of RJAF squadron commander Col. Nabil Ababneh. Colonel Ababneh reported that since the helicopters arrived, the number of hours flown has increased by more than 75 percent compared to the first year of operation.

Meanwhile, joining two EC 135s already in service with the Kuwaiti Police Flying Wing, two Eurocopter AS 365 N3 Dauphin helicopters were delivered in May this year to undertake a wide range of missions by the nation’s security and armed forces.
