Responding to the fast-growing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market and exhibiting at Dubai for the first time, Canada’s MicroPilot has developed what it claims to be the world’s smallest fully functional autopilot. Weighing just one ounce, the MP2028g has capabilities that include airspeed hold, altitude hold, turn coordination, GPS navigation, as well as autonomous operation from launch to recovery.
Alongside the MP2028g, MicroPilot has developed the Horizon ground control software that offers a user friendly point and click interface for mission planning, parameter adjustment, flight monitoring and mission simulation.
The new autopilot is suitable for advanced UAV and micro air vehicles (MAV), as it provides faster update rates for feedback loops and improved altitude estimation. A low price “target” version of the MP2028g is claimed to be the first to be designed specifically for aerial targets and other disposable UAVs.
