Metro Receives DOD SkillBridge Program Recognition
More than 40% of the helicopter maintenance and operations company's staff comprises veterans
Metro Aviation is helping veterans transition to civil jobs with participation in the SkillBridge program.

Aviation services provider Metro Aviation has received Department of Defense (DOD) recognition as a SkillBridge employer.

Under SkillBridge, military personnel can gain work experience during their last 180 days of service through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships. Military participants continue to receive their military compensation while gaining civilian experience at approved industry partners.

Service members participate in hands-on internships at Metro Aviation, which has been participating through a partnership with BreakTurn, an intermediary with expertise in SkillBridge, the company said.

“It’s been a win-win—this program benefits both our company and the service members who join us. We’ve successfully transitioned several participants into full-time roles in operations, maintenance, and avionics,” said Britney Ratcliff, director of human resources at Metro Aviation. “The veterans we’ve worked with through SkillBridge are incredible. Their dedication, attention to detail, and technical skills are a perfect match for the high standards we uphold.”

Metro Aviation, which operates, maintains, and modifies helicopters, noted that more than 40% of its workforce is comprised of veterans.
