A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Jet Aviation has expanded its continual supplies of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Europe to include its Basel, Switzerland facility at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (LFSB).&nbsp;This builds on the General Dynamics subsidiary’s experience as the first to bring SAF to Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum (WEF) in <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2020-01-20/saf-makes-zurich-airport-debut-ahead-wef?amp=&amp;qt-latest_trending=1">2020</a>. Jet Aviation also provided the renewable fuel in Geneva for <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2022-05-22/jet-aviation-brings-saf-geneva-first-time?qt-latest_trending=1">EBACE</a> starting in 2022.
“We are delighted to be able to offer SAF onsite again during the [WEF] in Davos,” said João Martins, Jet Aviation’s v-p of regional FBO operations for Europe and general manager of its Zurich location. “We are incredibly proud to be able to provide this choice at all our sites in Switzerland, either via temporary onsite supplies for key events in Zurich and Geneva or with a permanent supply at our headquarters in Basel.”
The blended SAF—supplied by World Fuel—will be used for all company flights departing the LFSB site, including maintenance and completions redeliveries as well as test flights.&nbsp;“This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud to bring SAF to Basel for the first time,” said Jet Aviation president Jeremie Caillet. “As our global headquarters and largest maintenance site, as well as home to our completions business, Basel is central to our network.”
The company has been a pioneer in the distribution of SAF with supplies at its Amsterdam and Rotterdam locations in the Netherlands, as well as in Singapore and in the U.S. in Van Nuys, California; Bozeman, Montana; and Scottsdale, Arizona. Later this month, it will be available at its locations in Dallas; Palm Beach, Florida; Bedford, Massachusetts; and Teterboro, New Jersey.
